How to delete your data

You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you at any time, for any reason, and at no cost. You do not need an account to make the request.

Step 1. Send us the request

Email help@carved.com with the subject line “Data deletion request”. Please include:

  • The email address, phone number, or order number you used with us. This is how we find your records.
  • If you signed in with Facebook, tell us the name on your Facebook account so we can match it.
  • Whether you want everything deleted, or only a specific item such as your marketing profile or a product review.

You can also write to us at the postal address under Contact. An authorized agent may submit the request for you. We will ask for proof that you gave them permission.

Step 2. We confirm it is you

We reply to your request, normally within 5 business days. If we cannot match the request to your records, we may ask for one more piece of information, such as a recent order number. We only use that information to verify you, and we delete it afterwards.

Step 3. We delete your data within 30 days

We complete verified deletion requests within 30 days of verifying your identity, and we email you when it is done. If a request is complex and we need more time, we will tell you before the 30 days are up and explain why.

Deletion covers:

  • Your customer account and any Facebook Login connection, including your Facebook user ID, name, email address, and profile picture.
  • Your marketing profile, email and SMS subscriptions, and message history.
  • Your support conversations with us.
  • Your saved addresses, favorites, and browsing profile.
  • Your product reviews and review photos, on request.

We also instruct the service providers listed under Who we share information with to delete the personal information they hold on our behalf.

What we may have to keep

We must keep a minimum record of completed orders and payments to meet tax, accounting, fraud, and legal duties. This is normally the order number, the amount, the date, and the tax details, kept for as long as the law requires (generally 7 years). We do not use those records for marketing, analytics, or advertising. Everything else is deleted.

If you signed in with Facebook

You have two ways to remove your data, and you can use both:

  • Remove our app from Facebook. Go to Facebook Settings, then "Apps and Websites", find Carved, and choose Remove. This stops Facebook from sending us any further information about you and revokes our access.
  • Email us to delete what we already hold. Removing the app in Facebook does not by itself erase the data already stored on our side, so send the request in Step 1 above and we will delete it.

You can manage the Facebook settings directly at facebook.com/settings?tab=applications.

Other ways to limit our use of your data

  • Marketing email: click "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email.
  • Text messages: reply STOP to any message, or text STOP to +1 833 802 0531.
  • Advertising and tracking: see Advertising and third party pixels below.

Sign in with Facebook

If you choose to sign in with Facebook, Meta sends us a limited set of information from your Facebook profile so that we can create and operate your Carved account. We receive:

  • Your name.
  • Your email address.
  • Your Facebook user ID for our app.
  • Your profile picture.

We use this only to create your account, sign you in, link your account to your orders, and contact you about your account and your orders. We do not post to Facebook on your behalf, we do not read your friend list, your posts, or your messages, and we do not sell this information.

You can disconnect at any time, and you can ask us to delete everything we received. See How to delete your data.

When you visit our site, log in, register, or open an email, cookies, ad beacons, and similar technologies may be used by our online data partners or vendors to associate these activities with information they or others hold about you, including your email address. We, or service providers acting for us, may then send marketing to those email addresses. You can opt out of that advertising at app.retention.com/optout.

You can opt out of targeted advertising here:

To learn how targeted advertising works, see the Network Advertising Initiative at networkadvertising.org.

Selling and sharing personal information

We do not sell your personal information for money. Like many online stores, we share identifiers, device information, and information about your activity on the site with advertising partners such as Google and Meta so they can show you ads elsewhere. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, that sharing may count as a “sale” or “share”.

  • Categories shared: identifiers (such as cookie IDs and IP address), internet activity (such as pages and products viewed), and commercial information (such as your purchases).
  • To opt out, use the tools under Advertising and third party pixels above, or email us and we will honor the request.
  • We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
  • We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for the sale of personal information.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of information saved to your computer or device when you visit our site. Cookies let the site remember your actions and preferences, and they tell us how people use the site. We use functional, performance, advertising, and content cookies.

The third party services listed under Who we share information with may also set their own cookies or use similar technologies for the analytics, marketing, review, and testing purposes described in this policy.

Session cookies last until you stop browsing. Persistent cookies last until they expire or you delete them. Most of ours are persistent and expire between 30 minutes and two years after they are saved to your device.

Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can change this in your browser settings, usually under “Tools” or “Preferences”. See allaboutcookies.org for instructions. Blocking cookies can break parts of the site, and it does not by itself stop all sharing with advertising partners, so use the opt-out links above as well.

How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information for as long as you have an account or an active relationship with us, and then only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. You can ask us to erase it sooner at any time. See How to delete your data. Order, payment, and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires, generally 7 years.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it in a portable form, to have it corrected or updated, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent you have given. To use any of these rights, email help@carved.com or write to us at the address above. We will not treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.

Europe and the United Kingdom

Your personal information is initially processed in Ireland and is then transferred outside Europe for storage and further processing, including to Canada and the United States. For how those transfers comply with the GDPR, see Shopify’s GDPR whitepaper at help.shopify.com.

California

California residents have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request for you. Contact us at the address above.

Minors

The site is not intended for anyone under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has given us personal information, contact us at the address above and we will delete it.

Automated decision making

We do not use fully automated decision making that has a legal effect or a similarly significant effect on you. Our processor Shopify uses limited automated checks to prevent fraud:

  • A temporary block list of IP addresses linked to repeated failed transactions. It lasts a few hours.
  • A temporary block list of payment cards linked to blocked IP addresses. It lasts a few days.

If you live in Europe, you have the right to object to processing based only on automated decision making, including profiling, when that decision has a legal effect or otherwise significantly affects you.

Do Not Track

There is no consistent industry standard for responding to “Do Not Track” signals, so we do not change our data collection and use when we detect one from your browser.

Text message program

The Carved mobile message service (the “Service”) is operated by Carved. Using the Service means you agree to these terms. We may change or cancel the Service or any of its features without notice, and, so far as the law allows, we may change these terms at any time. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.

By consenting to the Service, you agree to receive recurring text messages from Carved, and from others acting for Carved, through your wireless provider at the number you gave us, even if that number is on a state or federal Do Not Call list. Messages may be sent using an automatic telephone dialing system or similar technology. Service messages may include order updates and account alerts. Promotional messages may include offers, specials, and cart reminders.

You do not have to join to buy anything from us, and consent is not a condition of any purchase. Taking part is voluntary.

We do not charge for the Service, but you are responsible for any text messaging charges from your wireless provider. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Check your plan with your provider.

You can opt out at any time. Text STOP to +1 833 802 0531, or use the unsubscribe link in a message where one is available. You will get one confirmation message and then no more, unless you start them again. If you joined other Carved message programs, opt out of those separately using the instructions in their terms.

For help, text HELP to +1 833 802 0531 or email help@carved.com.

We may change the short code or phone number used for the Service at any time, and we will tell you when we do. Messages you send to a number we have changed, including STOP or HELP requests, may not reach us, and we are not responsible for honoring requests in those messages.

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Please give us a valid mobile number, and sign up again if you change your number. So far as the law allows, we are not liable for failed, delayed, or misdirected messages, for errors in them, or for anything you do or do not do in reliance on them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our practices, or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.

Complaints

If you want to make a complaint, contact us by email or by mail using the details under Contact. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
